Little Urban Explorers @ Queenstown
Join us for another of Young Nautilus’ learning journeys to explore the neighbourhood of Queenstown! With the rich historical progress in town planning and a future hotspot for developments that are currently on-going, Queenstown makes for the perfect learning case study that will enable the K1-2 students to appreciate and understand how Singapore plans land usage and developments for its towns and neighbourhood!
Students will receive the actual land usage maps of the area that are used by URA planners, depicting the trail that they will embark on! As we explore the different amenities and developments along the trail, they will slowly fill in the map with all they have observed and learned. Lastly, the route chosen for this trail has no crossing of any main roads, which makes it safe and well-suited for K1-2 students.
BIODIVERSITY WALKS (*Also available for Primary to Tertiary)
Nothing beats going out into nature and observing marine animals in their habitat! Your students will be able to walk the Intertidal regions in Singapore, and learn about the vast biodiversity that our shores have! They will have a glimpse of what it would be like for a marine ecologist for a day! (This programme is dated according to tidal timings).
Places of biodiversity walks in Singapore -
Changi sandy shore (Intertidal walk)
Join us for a hands-on interactive experience with the marine intertidal animals of the Changi sandy shore! Join us in learning about the interesting habitat of Coney Island that was recently opened by NParks in 2015! In addition to learning about the endangered flora and fauna that are conserved on this island, students will also be able enjoy Singapore intertidal walk* to learn and interact with the marine biodiversity along the shore!

AT SCHOOL'S VENUE
Young Intertidal Explorers' Skit (with Marine Touch Tank)
This programme is an engaging performance, whereby kids will watch two friends (our facilitators acting) go on a journey to Singapore's very own Changi Beach! On their journey, they will encounter some of the fascinating marine animals (live animals that we will bring to your school) that can be found on the shore! Apart from learning about these marine animals, your students will have a new found appreciation for the marine ecosystem and how to conserve it through the three R's!
Marine Touch Tank
Along with the conservation assembly tank, we will be able to bring along live marine animals (e.g. Sea stars, sea cucumber, hermit crabs, marine snails, baby sharks** depending on availability) for some* of students to interact with! This will enable experiential learning for your students as they get an opportunity to touch and feel these animals.
